‘As long as I’m involved…’ – Gerrard responds to curtailment claims with Rangers set for title

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has reiterated his stance on whether the Scottish Premiership should be curtailed due to rising COVID-19 cases.

SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster refused to rule out the possibility of ending the season early if the COVID pandemic stops Scottish football in an interview with Record Sport.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Gerrard explained that his stance on whether Scottish football should be curtailed has not changed since the early months of 2020.

He said, “I’ve read through the interview and I think what Neil has done is put every possibility and option on the table.

“My opinion on this is exactly the same as it was in March and April. For football’s sake and the sake of competition, everything has to be finished in the right way.

“That’s my hope, that’s what I want and that opinion will never change as long as I’m involved in the game.”

Rangers

With Rangers so close to stealing the title back from Celtic, it would be a travesty if the season was ended early and the title was just given to the Gers.

This is what happened to the Hoops last season and we have all had a laugh about how they didn’t actually win the title that put them in pursuit of an unprecedented 10 in a row.

It just wouldn’t feel right if we didn’t have that moment of finally winning the league whenever that comes.

Not only do the fans deserve it but Gerrard, his staff and the players need to have that moment that has been 10 years in the making.

Every Rangers fan will have the same opinion as Gerrard and we sincerely hope that the season is able to to be played out in its entirety.

Not just for our sake but for the sake of every SPFL team with some club’s long term future depending on survival or relegation.
