Reported Rangers target opens talks with French club – Sky Sports
Representatives of Rangers linked Jesse Lingard have held talks with Nice over a potential loan move, according to Sky Sports.
In December, TEAMtalk claimed that Rangers were looking into the possibility of bringing Lingard to Ibrox on loan.
These hopes look to have taken a blow now that Lingard’s representatives have reportedly opened talks with another club.
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are yet to decide on what to do with Lingard with the player in the dark over whether he will be allowed to leave.
Despite this, the outlet state that Lingard’s representatives have opened discussions with French side Nice over a potential loan move.
This could force the Gers’ hand if they are truly interested in a move for the out of favour Red Devils attacker with Nice seemingly in pole position to secure his signature.
With Rangers targeting Aberdeen winger Scott Wright, it is unknown if Steven Gerrard still has any interest in attempting to lure Lingard north of the border.
We think a deal for Wright would be a better use of the club’s time and funds.
Wright knows the Scottish Premiership while Lingard has no such experience and the club could secure the permanent services of the Dons man while a move for Lingard would only be a loan.
The Man United man also hasn’t started a Premier League game for over a year while Wright has been playing regularly for Aberdeen.
It makes sense for Rangers to target a deal for Wright over a move for Lingard so the fact that his people are reportedly looking at a move to another club isn’t too much of a blow, presuming the deal for Wright gets over the line.
We could do with another attacker as fixtures continue to come thick and fast with the return of the Europa League making a hectic schedule even busier.
It looks like Wright could be that attacker with there now seemingly little hope of bringing Lingard to Ibrox.
