Jason Cundy believes Steven Gerrard & Rangers success could do Celtic massive favour
Jason Cundy has claimed that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard could have done fierce rivals Celtic a massive favour with his success at Ibrox.
The talkSPORT pundit admitted that Gerrard’s success could tempt more big-name managers to come to Scotland and raise their profile in Glasgow.
Rangers are currently charging towards their 55th title, and have opened their gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 21 points over the weekend.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy admitted that Lennon could be on his way out and that Gerrard could help their search.
“This time last year, Rangers started to implode, they had a bad January and the league just slipped away from them.
“This year, it’s not even a title race, again. Steven Gerrard is making a right name for himself.
“He’ll probably want to finish whatever job he decided, back-to-back titles, maybe? It’ll be interesting to see who takes the Celtic job, I can’t see Lennon hanging on to it past this season.
“I just wonder who might be tempted up there, because of what Steven Gerrard has done there.”
We’re pretty certain that Celtic would have preferred to have won their tenth title in a row, rather than the Bears ruining the party and storming to it themselves.
Cundy and the Old Firm are clearly clutching at straws, and there is no way that they are taking the same silver lining from this as the media are.
Gerrard is here, and he is here to stay.
Who would want to leave Ibrox? The Gers are storming the league, and have a real chance of bringing back Champions League football to the club – not before getting as far in the Europa League this season.
No one at the Light Blues wants to hand a favour to Celtic, we must push on and make it even worst for them in the years to come – bring it on.
