Reliable journalist: Rangers target has turned down past offer from Tottenham

Journalist Alan Nixon has provided an update on the future of Wigan striker and Rangers target Kyle Joseph.

Both Tottenham and the Gers have been linked with moves to sign the striker, while League One side Blackpool are also admirers.

Responding to a supporter on Twitter, Nixon claimed that it is actually Blackpool’s offer that is currently the best on the table.

However, Nixon added that the final decision will be the player’s to make, potentially offering Steven Gerrard some hope in the race to sign the striker.

More so, Nixon also added in another tweet that the Wigan man has already turned down a move to Tottenham in the past.

Hope for Rangers

Having already turned down a move to Tottenham, Rangers will surely hold out some hope that they can lure Joseph to Scotland in the near future.

With seven caps to his name for the Scottish U-19s, the opportunity to join up with Rangers could be a tantalising prospect for the young forward.

The sticking point for Rangers may come down to a matter of game time and Joseph’s decision to turn down Spurs in the past shows he is clearly a mature player who will not be wowed easily.

At 38 years of age, third-choice striker Jermain Defoe has made seven league appearances for Rangers this season and it remains to be seen if Joseph would be happy with a similar role.

Despite being in the third tier of English football, Blackpool have the lure of offering Joseph the opportunity to play week in and week out, something that could trump being third or potentially fourth-choice at Ibrox.

With Rangers on the verge of no.55, joining the Gers might look like the dream move on paper, but immediate first-team football appears to be a key factor for the young forward.
