Rangers to approach Aberdeen ace who started on Sunday, Jan move possible – Sky Sports

Rangers are set to make an approach for Aberdeen forward Scott Wright, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

The 23-year-old is yet to agree to new terms at Pittodrie, with his current deal set to expire with the Dons at the end of this season.

Joseph has claimed that the Bears could offer a pre-contract, but would prefer to complete a deal for Wright this month.

Wright started the game on Sunday, playing behind both Curtis Main and Sam Cosgrove.

The Bears went on to win 2-1 at Pittodrie, thanks to goals from Alfredo Morelos and a red card to Ryan Hedges in the first-half.

The Dons attacker, Wright played 58 minutes but didn’t do much to catch the eye – although Gerrard was clearly impressed.

Wright completed three dribbles but only was only accurate with 38.5% of his passes according to WhoScored – not a great percentage.

Injury worries?

It is hard to see where Wright would fit in at Ibrox.

When Kemar Roofe and Scott Arfield return, Gerrard will have plenty of options in the final third and in attacking midfield.

Ianis Hagi and Joe Aribo are flying this season, and with Cedric Itten struggling to get off the bench, it would be hard for Wright to establish himself in the side.

Gerrard is looking to build a squad full of depth as they charge towards the Scottish Premiership title, and if Wright becomes available at a bargain price, it could be smart to add him to the group.
