‘Absolute cracker’ – Derek Ferguson delighted with new-found form of Rangers ace v Dons

Derek Ferguson was delighted with the return to form of Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos in the 2-1 win against Aberdeen on Sunday.

The Colombian international stepped up to the plate with Kemar Roofe injured, scoring both goals to hand his side three points at Pittodrie.

Ferguson believes that it was the perfect time for Morelos to return to form, with Rangers cruising towards the Scottish Premiership title.

Speaking on the Blues Brothers Podcast on YouTube, Ferguson was particularly impressed with his El Bufalo’s first at Pittodrie.

“He needed that big time,” he said.

“He’s been not at his best, I think that’s for sure. I think that’ll just get him up to speed again, we’re on the run-in, it’s crucial our best players are performing.

“The goals were excellent, two touches in the box, one to control, one to hit. The first one is an absolute cracker.”

The perfect afternoon

Getting the three points was the most important thing against Aberdeen, but seeing Morelos return to form is a very-close second.

El Bufalo has been one of the very best in the Scottish Premiership for many years but has struggled to maintain that form this season, which is strange given the Bears success.

With Roofe out injured, Morelos has now returned to his more familiar central role at Ibrox and it is suiting him perfectly.

Morelos has found his efficiency once again and scored two of his three shots according to WhoScored – making up for that early miss.

Ferguson is spot on. The Bears need their big players, and there aren’t many better than Morelos in Glasgow.
