‘Without a doubt’ – Pundit claims Steven Gerrard critical to keeping key Rangers star
Steve Howey has claimed that the future of Rangers defender James Tavernier depends on if Steven Gerrard remains at Ibrox.
The Bears captain has been in unbelievable form in the Scottish Premiership for many years now, and interest is starting to grow.
Howey believes that Tavernier will want to stick around in Glasgow, with Rangers dominating the Old Firm and the future is only going to get better.
Speaking to Football FanCast, Howey claimed that both Tavernier and Gerrard could end up leaving Ibrox as the demand increases.
“Does he want to leave? Rangers are undergoing a resurgence right now,” he said.
“For me, he’s at a huge club, and they’ve got a great future ahead of them.
“That’s as long as the manager stays and he stays. But how long is he [Gerrard] going to stay there? Because without a doubt, there’ll be other people looking at him as well.”
Tam McManus has recently claimed that the Bears will be braced for “big money” offers from English clubs this month and also in the summer.
The Daily Mail have reported previously that Tottenham and Everton have registered their interest, as Tavernier continues to break boundaries at Ibrox.
It has been nothing short of miraculous this season from Tavernier, who has scored 11 goals and delivered eight assists – more than anybody in the league in both categories.
Gerrard will consistently be in the ear of his right-back and skipper, and hopefully, that will be enough to keep him around at Ibrox.
Why would he want to leave?
