‘Fantastic’ – Kris Boyd drools over one Rangers player in tense 2-1 win v Aberdeen

Kris Boyd was left drooling over Alfredo Morelos’ first goal as Rangers won 2-1 against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Morelos, 24, has struggled to find his goalscoring boots in the Premiership this term but managed to find the back of the net in each half as the Light Blues earned all three points at Pittodrie.

The Colombia international’s first goal in the 32nd minute was peak El Bufalo. He received the ball in the box with his back to the goal and without having to look, he managed to squeeze it past Dons goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

Ex-Rangers striker Boyd was blown away by Morelos’ instinct inside the penalty area.

“It was a big goal for Rangers and a great finish,” Boyd said at half-time on Sky Sports Main Event on Sunday [03:51pm].

Boyd added: “It’s a fantastic finish. Joe Lewis unsighted. You can see here, he doesn’t even need to look. Morelos knows exactly where it is and puts it back through Ash Taylor’s legs.

“It’s a fantastic finish. You can see there he goes back across and gives Lewis no chance. Fantastic finish from Alfredo Morelos.

“There have been signs that he’s starting to get back to what he was in the first half of last season.

“There have been signs here today that he’s looked hungry and at it.”

Alfie’s back

Morelos has taken a while to find his form in the league but he now has three goals in his last three top-flight appearances with two of them coming against one of the better teams in the division.

It’s unlikely that we’ll see Morelos as a Rangers player after the end of this season with continuous speculation surrounding his future at Ibrox. But if he can give us one last bang on the way to winning title number 55, then he’ll cement his spot as a modern-day hero at the club.

Boyd was delighted with Morelos’ overall performance to suggest that Morelos is getting back to the form he’s shown in recent seasons.

Up next for the Gers is an away trip to player Motherwell.

The Steelmen can set themselves up to be very hard to beat and tough to score against so it will be interesting to see whether Morelos can continue his goalscoring form at Fir Park.

In other Rangers news, Andy Walker has made a claim about the Gers’ January transfer movements.
