Confirmed Rangers team news v Aberdeen: One key change in Gerrard XI

Rangers have confirmed the return of Ianis Hagi is the only change in the team to face Aberdeen this afternoon at Pittodrie.

The Gers have confirmed via their official Twitter account that the Romanian will start in a front three alongside Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

Hagi was unlucky to miss out on a place in the starting XI against Celtic but he came on at half time and changed the Old Firm derby, sparking an injection of energy into Rangers’ attack.

Steven Gerrard was not expected to make many changes to the team that beat Celtic 1-0 last time out.

There had been some suggestions that Filip Helander could come back into the side, but Leon Balogun retains his place in the team following a clean sheet at Ibrox against the Hoops.

With Scott Arfield’s injury confirmed, it is once again Steven Davis, Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara who start in midfield.

Meanwhile, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Balogun and Borna Barisic make up an unchanged back four in front of Allan McGregor.

The latter was excellent last time out against Celtic and Gerrard will be hoping for more of the same against the Dons.

It is going to be another tough afternoon for the Gers against Derek McInnes’ side, who themselves will have aspirations to close the gap to second-place Celtic.

Rangers eased past Aberdeen 4-0 in the previous meeting between the two sides and another performance like that this afternoon will put the Gers well on their way as they march towards the Premiership title.

In other Rangers news, Alex McLeish has predicted the result of the Aberdeen clash and claims Gerrard’s men must be ready for a ‘battle’
