‘Clown’, ‘You are a parody’ – Many Rangers fans destroy Michael Stewart over ‘Clueless’ tweet

Rangers fans have tore BBC Sportscene pundit Michael Stewart to shreds for his comments during the 2-0 win away at Aberdeen on Sunday.

Derek McInnes saw his side reduced to 10 men in the first half when Ryan Hedges clipped Alfredo Morelos in the penalty area.

Curtis Main should have also been sent off for an ugly, studs-up challenge on Gers left-back Borna Barisic.

Although there wasn’t that much contact, Main’s studs were up and we cannot fathom as to how he only received a yellow card for such a dangerous, out-of-control challenge.

Stewart, however, doesn’t think it was a red card.

Speaking via his personal Twitter account, the former Hibs and Hearts player said: “Main was stupid to go in high for the ball against Barisic but the contact isn’t there for that to be a red card, the ref got that decision right to only give a yellow.”

Just because there wasn’t much contact doesn’t mean it’s not a sending-off offence. If a player takes a swing at another player but misses, does he stay on the pitch? No, he doesn’t.

Stewart’s been in the punditry game for long enough now to know that you don’t have to make contact to get sent off any more.

If Barisic’s leg was planted, he would be in hospital now.

Derek McInnes even substituted Main off because he knew he was lucky to have avoided a red card.

Understandably, Gers fans have torn into Stewart for his laughable reaction to the incident.
