‘It’s all rumours’ – Club boss fires sharp response over Rangers linked attacker’s future

QPR boss Mark Warburton has spoken out over the future of R’s winger Bright Osayi-Samuel following links with a move to Rangers.

Football Insider recently reported that Rangers and Celtic are both in for the young winger but Turkish side Fenerbahce are favourites to secure his signature.

Speaking to West London Sport, Warburton issued a sharp response when asked about the future of one of his star men.

He said, “Apparently he’s going to Celtic and Fenerbahce and Rangers as well. I hope he’s got a good passport.

“It’s all rumours and it keeps the media going. My only concern is Bright working hard, training well and performing well.”

Osayi-Samuel is out of contract in the summer and he is now free to arrange pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs such as Rangers.

It is no surprise to see Warburton annoyed by questions about Osayi-Samuel with the player’s contract situation dominating headlines at Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium over the last few weeks.

Osayi-Samuel has three goals and three assists in 20 Championship appearances which isn’t incredible by any stretch but Steven Gerrard clearly rates him.

The 23-year-old can play on both flanks and with QPR struggling this season, it would be interesting to see how the attacker would fair in a better side.

If the Gers could secure Osayi-Samuel on a pre-contract agreement then it would be a fantastic piece of business as the Ibrox club would be picking up a highly rated player for next to nothing.

Clearly, Warburton doesn’t want to lose his key player but at this point, it seems inevitable that he will leave either this month or in the summer.

In other Rangers news, a Champions League side will table a formal offer for one Gers ace soon, according to a new report.
