CL club set to make formal offer for in-form Rangers ace – report

RB Leipzig will make a formal offer for Rangers ace Ianis Hagi in the near future, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo

Hagi was linked with a move to the Bundesliga side last week by Romanian outlet DigiSport and this new report claims that this interest will lead to a bid.

The Romanian attacker has just hit form for Rangers after struggling through a poor spell earlier in the season.

This form has seemingly led to new transfer interest in the 22-year-old with Mundo Deportivo reporting that a formal bid will be made for Hagi ‘soon’.

The Spanish outlet claim that Leipzig value Hagi’s high potential and they want to add him to their roster of emerging young talent.

This contradicts the earlier report from DigiSport as they claimed that Leipzig wanted to sign Hagi to replace one of their injured players.

RB Leipzig’s key attacker Dominik Szoboszlai has picked up an injury which has the potential to keep the player sidelined long-term.

The earlier report from DigiSport claimed that last season’s Champions League semi-finalists wanted the Romanian to come in and replace Szboszlai.

Whatever the reason for the Bundesliga side’s reported interest, it would be a huge blow for Steven Gerrard to lose a player who has just worked his way back into contention at Ibrox.

After starting the season well, the 22-year-old seemed to lose confidence and he subsequently lost his form heading into October.

This form has returned in recent weeks though with the attacker picking up two goals and two assists in his last five Scottish Premiership games.

RB Leipzig have plenty of money to spend but we would like to think that it would take a substantial fee to convince Rangers to part with such a talented young player.

Hagi will be needed during this season’s run-in and he could be vital for Gerrard once the Europa League returns in February as the club will look to juggle domestic and European success.

Few Gers fans will want to see Hagi leave this month but nerves will be high among the fan base if this report from Spain holds any truth.
