Sky Sports journalist details Gerrard approach to potential Jan signings at Rangers

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge does not believe Steven Gerrard will rule out any potential January signings at Rangers.

Speaking during Sky Sports News’ Transfer Talk show, Bridge was quizzed on the possibility of any potential incomings at Ibrox this month, with Rangers sitting 19 points clear at the top of the table.

In response, Bridge claimed while it is not being ruled out, it is unlikely, saying: “I don’t think Steven Gerrard would ever say no.

“If someone new came about and they said ‘I cannot turn this down’, but I generally believe Rangers fans should be happy that they’re so settled.”

Gerrard has remained coy on potential incomings this month, admitting that the club’s focus will be sending some of their younger stars out on loan.

No need to panic buy for Rangers

Bridge uses the word ‘settled’ and that is exactly how things are at Ibrox currently, settled.

Gerrard also recently confirmed that Ryan Jack is closing in on his return to first-team action, which eases some of the injury concern that was growing at the club.

Injuries should be the only reason that Gerrard considers making any moves this month, but Jack’s return will come as a huge boost.

At a time where Scott Arfield will also be sidelined, it looked like a potential problem position for Rangers but concerns over that will now be eased with Jack soon to be back in contention.

Rather than bringing players in, the priority for Gerrard has to be finalising new contracts for a number of key players.

Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Leon Balogun are all out of contract at the end of the season and have been integral to Rangers’ success this season.
