Rangers star will sign new contract at Ibrox – pundit

Charlie Adam has claimed that Rangers keeper Allan McGregor will sign a new contract at Ibrox sooner rather than later.

Steven Gerrard broke his silence on the veteran on Friday, claiming it is all about timing with his contract set to run out at the end of this season.

Adam claimed that there are no keepers in better form than McGregor in the whole of Britain after his masterclass against Celtic.

Speaking on the Football Show on PLZ Soccer, Adam claimed that Rangers fans have nothing to worry about this contract situation.

“I think the manager is just trying to relax the situation,” he said.

“Allan McGregor will sign a new contract with Rangers, that’s not the issue. The good thing about Rangers, at the minute, they do it quickly, they don’t wait until six weeks before the end of the season.

“They know their plan already for next season, and the form that Allan McGregor is in, there’s nobody in Britain in the form that he’s in, it’ll be a matter of time before he signs a new contract.”

Gerrard commented on McGregor and others on Friday and relayed positive news that the Gers want to keep some of their better players.

Leon Balogun and his one-year deal also expires this season, and the Bears look ready to keep both him and McGregor in Glasgow.

This is just Gerrard keeping his cards close to his chest.

As Adam mentioned, there are no doubts that McGregor will leave, and once the Bears potentially secure the title, there will be a couple of contract announcements that follow, and we cannot wait for those.
