Gerrard delivers major Rangers blow as key star ruled out for 4-5 weeks
Steven Gerrard has delivered a significant fitness update on three Rangers first-team players.
The headline news is that Scott Arfield will be out for 4-5 weeks, which would mean he would be out until the game against St Johnstone on February 3.
Kemar Roofe could miss a couple of games while Ryan Jack has got a few training sessions under his belt and should be “back soon”.
The news was relayed by Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell on Friday morning.
Key players – Jack return a boost
It’s a good thing that Rangers have such a strong squad at the moment as three key injuries would really have hurt in the past.
Arfield will be a big miss over January and we hope that Roofe is only out for two games. He’s been brilliant for Rangers recently.
It means that we’ll be relying on Morelos to come up with the goals and he’s not been firing at all this season.
Ryan Jack’s return has been on the cards for a while now and it’s obvious that Rangers don’t want to rush him back and risk losing him again for a longer period of time.
January is such a key month. The Old Firm win for Rangers was a massive step towards the Premiership title but it will likely be won or lost this month.
Rangers play four league games between now and the end of the month, starting off with a tough game against Aberdeen.
We don’t want to count chickens but four wins would leave the trophy all but heading to Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, RB Leipzig are reportedly interested in signing one of the Gers’ in-form players.
