‘No doubt’ – Exclusive: Pundit makes Gerrard claim ahead of ‘most important’ Gers game of 20/21
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has claimed that Steven Gerrard is improving with each game as he prepares for the “most important” clash of the season against Aberdeen.
Rangers went 19-points clear after beating Celtic last weekend, and McLeish believes they must back that up at Pittodrie on Sunday.
McLeish claims that Gerrard has turned a corner at Ibrox this season, and his attitude has changed after he got carried away in the previous campaign.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “That is the game of all games.
“It’s the consequences of failures in those games is pretty devastating. Not only from the outside but also your own personal feelings because you wanted to do it for the fantastic following of the fans that you have.
“Steve has turned the corner with that kind of thing. Steven is well-versed on big, important games and the next one is probably now the most important game of the season.
“That’s the way Steven will address that to his players. There’s no doubt about it, Steven is improving as a manager all the time.”
Last season, Gerrard went crazy after the win at Parkhead and that backfired massively after the Bears collapse.
After the 1-0 win on Saturday, Gerrard was calm and hardly reacted, as his attention immediately switched to the game at Aberdeen.
Borna Barisic admitted recently that talks of the Scottish Premiership title has been banned in the Ibrox dressing room, and that is exactly what we want to hear.
There is a newfound determination for the Bears, and we expect them to prove that once again at Pittodrie this weekend.
