Rangers-linked striker drops big social media hint that a move is imminent

Rangers may be edging closer to a deal for Juan Alegria after the player posted an update on social media.

The image shows the striker at Amsterdam airport, and The Daily Record think the post means he is set for an imminent move.

Last month the 18-year-old announced that he was close to joining the Gers, and there is a flight from Amsterdam to Glasgow scheduled for later today.

Alegria currently plies his trade at Finnish side FK Honka but it was recently reported that Rangers were hoping to push through a deal this month.

One for the future

There are shades of Alfredo Morelos in Alegria. They are robust Colombian strikers and they have both spent time playing in Finland.

The pair have performed well in northern Europe, too, with Morelos scoring 46 times at Helsinki and Alegria scoring four goals in ten games this season.

Although there are similarities, the Colombia U17 international has some considerable steps to take if he is to match his compatriot.

This term the attacker has completed just 45% of his dribbles per Wyscout, while a pass accuracy of 75% is nothing to boast about.

What’s more, that comes at a lower standard, where the pressure is a far cry from what will be expected of him at Ibrox.

As a result, we certainly feel he is one for the future, rather than a striker who will be helping fire Rangers towards 55.

In other Rangers news, the club are battling Celtic for the signing of a player available on a free in the summer.
