RB Leipzig want to sign in-form Rangers star this month – report

In-form Rangers ace Ianis Hagi is being targeted by Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, according to Romanian outlet DigiSport

After a period of uncertainty, Hagi is now back playing regularly for Steven Gerrard and he has been one of the Ibrox club’s better players over the festive schedule.

Hagi has now been linked with a move to RB Leipzig as the Bundesliga side reportedly want him to replace the injured Dominik Szoboszlai.

Szoboszlai will be out of action for around six weeks, according to DigiSport’s report, and the German side want Hagi to replace their key man.

The report also states that Hagi is considered the ‘ideal option’ to replace Szoboszlai by Leipzig due to his similarities to the Hungarian attacker.

It would take a substantial bid to allow Hagi to leave Ibrox with Gerrard looking to continue his side’s progression in Europe with the Romanian winger in his plans.

Renewed interest in Hagi is no surprise considering his recent form with the Romanian picking up two goals and two assists in his last five Scottish Premiership games.

Hagi also recently scored in his side’s 2-0 win over Lech Poznan which helped to secure top spot in the club’s Europa League group.

He is becoming a vital player this term after dropping off following his impressive start to the season.

Hagi dropped off in form so much that he requested to play for Romania’s youth side to recover some form and confidence despite being a fully-fledged international.

This move seems to have worked however with Hagi now back in form at Ibrox and reportedly attracting the attention of a club who reached the Champions League semi-finals last season.

It would be a blow for Hagi to leave in January now he has rediscovered his form as Gers fans hope that if this reported interest is real, then their side can hang onto one of its top talents.

In other Rangers news, a Gers player has addressed recent transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Ibrox.
