‘Cannot believe’ – Ferguson destroys Celtic for Dubai trip, shares delight on Rangers choice

Derek Ferguson has admitted he was “delighted” when Rangers didn’t announce a mid-season trip to Dubai in this campaign.

The pundit slammed Old Firm rivals Celtic for jetting overseas after the 1-0 clash on Saturday afternoon, claiming that he couldn’t believe his eyes.

Rangers are now 19 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and will remain in Glasgow to continue their preparations for the Aberdeen clash.

Speaking on the Blues Brothers Podcast on Monday, Ferguson slammed Celtic for their decision to travel overseas during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They (Celtic) are getting pelters for that,” he said.

“To be honest with you, quite rightly so, I don’t think they should be there in the current situation we find ourselves in. I cannot believe that.

“We tried to use that (going to Dubai) to try and kick on, it was the absolute reverse – I was delighted when there was no mention of Rangers going to Dubai. We’ve got good enough facilities.”

Ferguson is spot on.

How Celtic can justify leaving the country and travelling halfway across the world during a global pandemic is beyond us – especially when so many players have been torn apart for short trips.

The government even confirmed another lockdown on Monday, something that makes the trip even more ludicrous in our eyes.

Thankfully, BBC journalist Chris McLaughlin confirmed that the Scottish Premiership will continue, and that is a huge boost for Rangers.

The Bears clearly have their eyes on that title, and seeing their nearest rivals Celtic destroyed in the media will only spur them on to that silverware.
