‘Laughable’, ‘Totally clueless’ – Many Rangers fans blast BBC Sportscene over latest ‘Bias’

Rangers fans have blasted BBC Sportscene for their analysis of the Gers’ hard-fought 1-0 win against Hibernian at Ibrox on Saturday.

Ianis Hagi’s goal was enough to secure all three points for Steven Gerrard’s side but the game did have several moments of controversies.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene on Saturday night, Michael Stewart claimed his former team Hibs should have been awarded a penalty when a high boot by Hagi almost caught Joe Newell. Neil McCann was also on punditry duty on Saturday and although he dubbed the incident as “crazy”, he wasn’t as sure about it being a penalty.

Stewart, however, was adamant that Hibs should have been awarded a penalty, saying it’s a “penalty kick all day long”.

BBC Sport Scotland uploaded a clip of the analysis and, of course, that led to a strong reaction from Rangers fans.

Gers supporters blasted the BBC for their anti-Rangers bias and even pointed out that their selective editing saw a horrific challenge on Kemar Roofe get cut out from their highlights package.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Both were penalties.

Referees give penalties for a lot less than Hagi’s high boot because it was endangering an opposing player. You don’t have to make contact for it to be a foul.

But the Ryan Porteus challenge on Roofe was a shocker. That was a penalty and could have even been a sending off.

BBC Sportscene has to be showing incidents like that in their highlights package.

If they want to rid the talk of them having an anti-Rangers agenda, you have to be fair in your coverage of the club.

Leaving that out and talking about far softer challenges was shambolic by them.

In other Rangers news, Ianis Hagi has said whether he injured himself against Hibs.
