Tam McManus claims officials missed ‘blatant’ Hibernian penalty in Rangers clash
Rangers extended their gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 1-0 victory against Hibernian on Saturday.
It could have been a much different story though, with the away side causing plenty of problems for the Bears defence at Ibrox.
Hibernian had a huge penalty shout turned down in the second-half, when Ianis Hagi appeared to catch Joe Newell with a high boot when clearing the ball.
Tam McManus has reacted to that decision on his personal Twitter account, claiming it was a “blatant” penalty for the Hibs.
“Hibs played well there. Ref misses a blatant penalty kick on Newell,” he wrote.
“Tight games you need to get those decisions right.”
McManus is right to say in tight games you need those decisions to go your way, and that is exactly what is happening for Rangers this season.
Most decisions appear to be going our way, and we are certainly not complaining at this one as Willie Collum waved away those protests.
That was the only thing that Hagi did wrong this afternoon.
The Romanian playmaker was superb at Ibrox and scored his third goal in as many starts after being brought in from the cold by Steven Gerrard.
Hagi was everywhere. The midfielder had three shots on goal, but also made two tackles according to WhoScored, as he got stuck in against the physical Hibs side.
The Gers aren’t bothered with how they play now they’ve got to this stage, all that matters now is getting three points in every game, afterall, there is a green tick next to this one, no matter how it happened.
