‘Doing bits’, ‘Beautiful’ – Many Rangers fans awestruck by ‘Superb’ 22y/o in win v Hibs
Ianis Hagi turned around what was a difficult start to the game against Hibernian with a well-taken goal to give Rangers a valuable victory.
Steven Gerrard started Hagi alongside Kemar Roofe and Ryan Kent in attack for the Gers, but the 22-year-old simply could not impact the game as much as he would like in the opening stages.
However, the Gers went in at half time leading 1-0 thanks to Hagi’s goal in the first half.
In what was some well-worked and patient build-up, Rangers passed the ball around the Hibs box before Roofe played a searching ball across the face of goal.
Hagi did enough to get in front of his man and despite not making the best connection with the ball, he managed to guide the ball into the back of the net and give Rangers the lead.
It was only Hagi’s 10th league start for Rangers this season, with the player failing to replicate the stunning form that made him an instant hit with supporters last season.
In what were troubling conditions, the away side remained compact and defended deep, limiting the space available to the likes of Hagi.
Steven Gerrard will be hoping that the goal can be used a springboard for Hagi to get back to his best on a consistent basis during the second half of the season.
In what was not exactly a memorable afternoon at Ibrox, Rangers did enough to see out the game and take all three points.
While Hibernian did little to seriously test Rangers – despite some late pressure – it is a valuable three points in tough conditions that they can add to their lead at the top of the Premiership.
Following the goal, these Rangers supporters took to Twitter to show their love towards the 22-year-old…
