McAllister issues title warning ahead of ‘pivotal’ Rangers run
Assistant manager Gary McAllister has issued a title warning to the Rangers squad ahead of a crucial run of games over Christmas.
As reported by the Glasgow Times, McAllister is well aware of the importance of the December and January run that could define Rangers’ season.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday night’s game, he issued a warning to the Rangers players: “I’ve been involved in football for a very long time and I always feel the Christmas and New Year period is very pivotal.
“If you can get through these games and be positive at the end of it, it stands you in good stead looking forward to April and May.
“The games at Christmas and New Year are always pretty key and we are approaching this tranche of games with that mindset.”
Between now and January, Rangers face St. Johnstone, Hibernian on Boxing Day, St Mirren and Celtic in the first game of 2021.
Potential title deciders
Another unbeaten run through the end of December and early January would put Rangers out of sight in the Premiership title race.
The Gers are already 16 points clear at the top and have the Old Firm meeting on the horizon.
Extending that lead even further would put huge demands on a Celtic squad who have been anything but consistent this season.
Having only lost once in all competitions this season, to let such a sizable lead at the top slip would be catastrophic for the Gers at this point.
Borna Barisic recently explained that the squad are no longer panicking in these big situations and highlighted the mentality switch the players have shown this season that he thinks is setting them apart.
