‘I don’t regret my decision’ – Former Rangers starlet makes bold admission over Ibrox exit
Former Rangers man Billy Gilmour has opened up about his Ibrox exit after leaving the club for Chelsea in 2017.
Gilmour, 19, impressed on his limited outings for the London club last season as he looks to be another excellent product of the Gers academy.
Speaking to UMM, Gilmour admitted that he is still a Rangers fan while opening up about his exit in 2017.
He said, “Even now, I don’t regret my decision coming to Chelsea. Every minute I’ve been here, I’ve loved it.
“I’m still a Rangers fan. I watch Rangers play and they’re doing well just now. Hopefully, they can keep it up and win the league.”
Gers fans will love that Gilmour is still keeping an eye on his former club but some will no doubt be disappointed that the talented youngster isn’t turning out for Steven Gerrard’s side.
The central midfielder only has three first-team appearances to his name this season but two of those outings have come in the Champions League as his remarkable development continues.
The Gers currently have an incredibly talented midfield so it is entirely possible that Gilmour wouldn’t be a regular starter in the current Rangers side.
Many Rangers fans would like to see Gilmour back at the club and he was linked with a move north of the border a few weeks ago by The Sun.
Gilmour is still only 19 and after impressing last season for Chelsea against Liverpool, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the young midfielder develop into a top talent.
On one hand, it is a shame to see a Gers academy product thriving away from Ibrox but Gilmour’s development does speak volumes about the quality of the club’s academy.
In other Rangers news, Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has refused to credit the Gers after his side lost at Ibrox on Saturday.
