Rangers set for seven-figure windfall after £55m Government outlay – reliable journalist
Rangers are set to receive a £2million loan from the Scottish Government, according to STV journalist Raman Bhardwaj.
Last week, BBC Sport reported that the Government are planning a £55million funding package for Scottish sports teams.
Bhardwaj has reported via his personal Twitter account that each Scottish Premiership club will receive a £2million loan each. BBC Sport claimed that these loans are “low-interest”.

Helpful – but not significant
At least the Government has done something to support clubs but even though Rangers are missing out on a lot of money due to the lack of matchday income, the club hasn’t been hit as hard as others have in the current crisis.
Stewart Robertson and the rest of the Gers board will find a way to put that £2million to good use.
Even though the interest rate is low, they won’t want to wait too long to pay it back and for a team going for the title and hoping to qualify for the Champions League, it won’t be too difficult.
It is the teams who lower down the standings that need this financial support more than us. We don’t want to see any teams going broke or being unable to field a team of players due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Championship clubs are getting £500,000 grants, which is helpful. But ultimately, that might not be enough in some cases. League One and League Two sides are also getting scaled-down grants.
