‘Tragedy, have to be ruthless’ – Many Rangers fans react to Gerrard update on player ‘Situation’
Rangers fans are concerned about midfielder Ryan Jack after Steven Gerrard confirmed that he will miss Wednesday night’s BetFred Cup clash against St Mirren.
Gerrard’s men will travel to Paisley with the aim of securing their place if the last-four of the competition and taking a major stride towards winning silverware for the first time since returning to the Scottish Premiership.
However, in order to win, the Gers will have to make do with Jack again with the 28-year-old now set to miss his seventh consecutive match.
Jack has been superb for the Light Blues this season.
The former Aberdeen midfielder has made 17 appearances in all competitions for the Premiership leaders and according to stats by Wyscout, no player makes more passes per 90 minutes in the league than him [98.85].
Jack also makes more progressive passes than anyone in the Premiership [15.89 per 90 minutes] and is also first for passes into the final third per 90 minutes [16.15].
Despite him being the top-flight’s leading midfielder, Rangers have not exactly missed the Scotland international in recent games by building upon their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership and also winning their Europa League group.
Still, fans are concerned by Gerrard’s continual negative updates on Jack’s condition.
Some supporters suggest he’s becoming like Jordan Rossiter while another believes it might be time for him to retire from international duty with Scotland in order to preserve his club career.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

If Jack wants to call time on his career with Scotland, it’s unlikely it will happen any time soon with Steve Clarke’s side set to play at the European Championships next summer.
Jack also has just 10 caps with the Tartan Army so we would be shocked if he thinks he is done with the national team, even if he is suffering injuries each time he comes back from his international duty time.
In other Rangers news, fans were blown away by this player for his “MOTM” display at Tannadice.
