Ally McCoist hoping that Rangers avoid ‘Class act’ in upcoming Europa League draw
Ally McCoist has claimed that Rangers must avoid RB Salzburg in the upcoming Europa League draw on Monday afternoon.
The Bears cruised into the knockout stages of the European competition, finishing top of their group ahead of Benfica and Standard Liege.
Steven Gerrard’s men should get a favourable draw after that, but could still come up against the likes of Salzburg and Real Sociedad in the round of 32.

Speaking on BT Sport on Friday evening, McCoist admitted that the Austrian’s are a class above and that the Bears should get a favourable draw if they avoid them.
“Funnily enough, the two stronger teams you mentioned, Salzburg are above anybody in terms of wanting to avoid them,” he said.
“I think they are probably the class act, in my opinion, to be honest with you that you can meet. That said, the fact that Rangers have won their group would indicate that they have a serious chance of getting a draw that would suit them.”

It is all about the luck of the draw, and Rangers don’t have much luck in that department.
Last season, the Light Blues were dealt a tough hand when they had to face Bayer Leverkusen over two legs and they were comfortably dispatched by the Germans.
After finishing top though, Rangers will miss the majority of the teams dropping down from the Champions League and have a great possibility of facing someone they would consider inferior.
McCoist and host Darrell Currie singled out the likes of Molde and Maccabi Tel-Aviv, and they would present the perfect chance for us to go as far as possible this year.
All eyes are set on Monday for the draw – fingers crossed.
