‘Right now’ – talkSPORT pundit makes wild claim about Rangers in Europe

TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy has made a wild claim that Rangers might be the best team in Europe currently after their 2-0 win on Thursday night.

It was a result that ensured the Gers qualified as group winners in the Europa League and continued their incredible unbeaten run this season.

Speaking on The Sports Bar, Cundy lauded the incredible job that Steven Gerrard has done this season.

High praise indeed from the former Chelsea man.

Aware of the gravitas of what he was saying, Cundy was quick to specify that he is talking on current form alone.

Cundy may be on to something

Of course, Rangers are not the best team in Europe, but on current form, there are not many better around the continent as things stand.

WhoScored have Rangers ranked in first place in their form table, which takes into account results both home and away.

According to WhoScored, the Gers also lead the way when it comes to winning streaks this season (8), ahead of Atletico Madrid, Genk and Romanian side FC FCSB who are all level on seven.

Cundy highlighted Rangers’ impressive defensive record and he is absolutely right to – the club have kept seven consecutive clean sheets.

SPAL in Serie B are the Gers’ closest rivals with five in a row, as per WhoScored.

One team in Europe that has bettered Rangers is Serbian outfit FK Crvena Zvezda, who are currently 17 games unbeaten domestically, one ahead of Gerrard’s men.
