View: Celtic fan conspiracy theory about Rangers going bust is absolutely laughable

Rangers look set to stop Celtic’s bid to win 10-in-a-row this season with Steven Gerrard’s side flying high at the top of the table.

The Gers currently hold a 13-point lead over their rivals but have played an extra two games.

With the Scottish Premiership title in their sights, Rangers have looked unstoppable and are yet to taste defeat in the league this season.

The same cannot be said for Celtic, who have endured a difficult first half of the campaign with pressure mounting on manager Neil Lennon.

Celtic’s poor form could be put down to a number of reasons, but speaking on A Celtic State of Mind, Stevie Mullen was discussing the league standings and said: “And I’m now starting to underthink that maybe is there collusion between Celtic and Rangers that if we won 10 in a row there’s no desire for 11 so our season ticket sales would fall off?

“If Rangers allow us to win 10 in a row they go bust.”

Sorry to disappoint you Stevie

It’s quite the claim, amid Rangers’ incredible form this season. There should be no talk of ‘collusion’ between the two clubs or anything as wild as that.

The reality is that Gerrard has assembled an incredibly strong squad, one that has strength in depth that Rangers have not seen for many years.

Couple that with the winning mentality that the Gers have shown both domestically and in Europe this season and it is clear to see the club are rightfully marching towards the title.

The numbers do not lie with Rangers and they reflect the current gap between the two sides. In the Scottish Premiership, 45 goals scored in 16 games and just three conceded.

Compare that to Celtic, who have not managed to keep a clean sheet in their last five league games and the picture starts to become a little clearer.

As per Wyscout, Rangers are averaging 2.5xG per game in the Scottish Premiership this season, compared to their opponent’s 0.43xG.

Gerrard’s side are averaging 17.81 shots per game while also dominating the ball with nearly 66% possession, as per Wyscout.

Make no mistake about it, Rangers have been dominant this season and should they go on to win the title, it will be fully deserved on their own merits.
