Some Rangers fans rave about 'Unreal' player v Lech Poznan: 'What a pest', 'Tremendous'

Plenty of Rangers fans were impressed with the performance of Cedric Itten against Lech Poznan in the Europa League on Thursday as the Gers won 2-0 to finish top of Group D ahead of Benfica.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring for Steven Gerrard’s side with a powerful shot into the top of the net before a close-range Ianis Hagi header sealing the win in the second half.

Given the start in the centre-forward position, flanked by Hagi and Joe Aribo, Itten was a constant threat, taking three shots during his 80 minutes on the field. His overall play was excellent too, with the Switzerland international winning five aerial duels and completing three dribbles, while he also made one key pass (via WhoScored).

The young striker has had limited opportunities since arriving from St Gallen over the summer, with this just his fourth start and his first in the Europa League (via WhoScored). However, he will have impressed his manager and can look to put more pressure on Jermain Defoe, Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe ahead of him in the pecking order.

Plenty of Rangers fans were clearly impressed with his performance, with one suggesting that he was the man of the match, while another said that he was going to become a “great player”.

Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter to Itten’s match-winning performance against Lech Poznan.
