Rangers leave Aussie TV hosts baffled as Gers make headlines Down Under
Rangers have made headlines in Australia after Aussie hit Live It Up by Mental As Anything reached number one on the UK charts 35 years after it was released.
The 1985 hit has been adopted as an unofficial anthem by Gers supporters after it was used in a video clip that mocked Celtic.
Images of Connor Goldson scoring in the 2-0 Old Firm win earlier this season were plastered around Glasgow and a video showing those pictures had Live It up playing in the background.
Now, the Australian media has cottoned onto Mental As Anything’s song rediscovering it’s popularity in the UK.
One Rangers fan uploaded a clip from 7 News’ breakfast show Sunrise, which can watch below.
After the news was shared, Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage asked: “How does it fit with Glasgow Rangers?” After that, the hosts ended up laughing about the whole story.
You can’t blame them for not knowing what the relevance between that song and Rangers is but it’s definitely aimed at Celtic.
One of the most fitting lines in Live It Up is: “How can you see looking through those tears?”
If fans were allowed to attend Parkhead in the first Old Firm derby of the season, you can guarantee there would have been plenty of tears.
Ever since then, Celtic fans have been absolutely raging with their club.
Neil Lennon has overseen one of the most spectacular implosions ever witnessed at Parkhead with the Bhoy looking shoe-ins for 10-in-a-row to a team that is out of Europe and 13 points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers.
How can they see anything through those tears right now?
In other Rangers news, this player’s father claims the Gers are close to signing his son.
