Ibrox View: Gerrard to axe 24y/o in two key changes - Predicted Gers starting XI v Lech Poznan

Rangers play Lech Poznan at Poznan Stadium on Thursday in the final match of the Europa League group stage, knowing a win will seal Group D.

The Gers have 11 points from their first five matches and are ahead of Benfica on away goals at the top of the group.

In the reverse fixture, Steven Gerrard’s side won a tight game at Ibrox 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Alfredo Morelos.

On Thursday, we expect Allan McGregor to continue in goal, given that the 38-year-old has been the first choice throughout this Europa League campaign.

In defence, ever-presents James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are likely to continue, while Croatian international Borna Barisic should return at left-back in place of Calvin Bassey after being rested against Ross County.

Leon Balogun will likely continue alongside Goldson at centre-back, in the absence of Filip Helander who is still self-isolating (via BBC Sport).

In midfield, Gerrard should stick with Glen Kamara and Steven Davis, with Scott Arfield returning in place of 24-year-old Joe Aribo after he struggled to make an attacking impact against Ross County.

The Nigerian international was dispossessed three times on Sunday (via WhoScored), while Arfield has scored three Europa League goals already this season.

Upfront, Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos are likely to start as they did against Ross County and Standard Liege in the most recent Europa League fixture.

With just two changes from the Ross County match, we expect Gerrard to take this game seriously and look to wrap up the top spot in Group D.

With plenty of matches approaching as the schedule tightens around Christmas, the Gers will need to do more rotation, but Gerrard will want to finish the job in Poland on Thursday.
