You know that Celtic are in trouble when Tom English is predicting that Rangers will win the title.
And it could get even worse for Celtic after what English claimed was a “massive gamble” in backing Neil Lennon.
He said if it went wrong, Lennon would probably not be the only casualty at the club.
Talking on the BBC Sportsound podcast, English said, “It’s desperate. No element of the team is functioning. No element of the management team is functioning.
“Look at the post-match press conference, the things that Lennon said his team lacks… urgency, speed, penetration, magic, verve, personality, drive, excitement and oomph.
“That’s a hell of a checklist and it’s game after game after game.
“If you’re looking at where the league title is going – you’d bet the house on blue.”
English posted a tweet on Tuesday morning that said, “They’re going all-in on Neil Lennon here. If it goes right then they’ve pulled off a giant gamble. If it goes wrong then I doubt the manager will be the only casualty… An incredible football drama.”
We back Lennon too
Let’s get one thing straight.
Rangers fans are very happy that the Celtic board is still fully backing Neil Lennon.
The strong belief among Gers is that the longer he is in charge, the longer this catastrophic run of form continues.
Celtic have won two in the last 12, they’ve not won at home since mid-September.
They’ve gone five games without a win for the first time since 97, five home games without a win since 1958. These are big stats.
Fair play to Celtic for backing their man but it looks like a huge mistake from the outside looking in.
Celtic should be beating Ross County. They should be beating St Johnstone. Lenon has obviously lost the players.
As we said, you know something is seriously wrong when English is backing Rangers to win the league.
