Rangers beat Ross County 4-0 at the Global Energy Stadium on Sunday, the Gers’ eighth consecutive win in the Scottish Premiership.

Kemar Roofe opened the scoring and was outstanding on the day and is increasingly looking like the best striking option at Steven Gerrard’s disposal.

Alfredo Morelos has not scored since the Gers’ 3-3 draw with Benfica at the start of November and the pressure is starting to pile on the Colombian.

Roofe, starting on the right-hand side of the front three once again, put in a highly influential attacking performance and scored the first goal after 28 minutes. Reading the run of right-back James Tavernier, he was more alive than the defenders in the box and slid in to score.

Throughout the 90 minutes, he took five shots and was unfortunate not to score at least a second, while he completed two dribbles and 94% of his passes (via WhoScored). While he is naturally a centre-forward, the move to the wing seems to have helped improve his overall game and he now looks like a complete player, able to score all kinds of goals.

He has now scored eight goals from 13 appearances this season and is pushing Morelos for the number nine shirt (via WhoScored).

Morelos endured another tough day against Ross County, failing to get a single shot on target and completing just 70% of his passes (via WhoScored).

With Joe Aribo able to play from the right-wing, Gerrard has the option to move Roofe inside and the temptation to do so will be growing. Jermain Defoe also came off the bench to score his second goal in as many games, so the pressure is very much on the Colombian.

With the Gers in action against Lech Poznan in the week, it will be interesting to see which road Gerrard goes down, but previously an automatic starter, Morelos is no longer the clear number nine at Ibrox.

There has been speculation about the 23-year-old’s future with the club in the past and valued at £13.5 million by Transfermarkt, a decision could be coming soon.
