‘Incredible’ – Michael Beale awestruck by Rangers ace after 4-0 win v Ross County
Michael Beale has heaped praise on Rangers forward Jermain Defoe for his 800th career appearance against Ross County.
Defoe came off the bench and put the icing on the cake in Dingwall, scoring in typical poachers’ fashion in the 4-0 victory.
The Bears continue to impress in Scotland, remaining unbeaten with Steven Gerrard using each of his players perfectly in games.
Writing on his personal Twitter account after the game, Beale was full of praise for the veteran forward after the game.
“Incredible achievement from Jermain Defoe,” he wrote.
“800 professional games & a bucket load more to come. He is a top professional & a role model for younger players.”
Defoe clearly has the respect of everyone around him, and his new role at Ibrox is definitely benefitting everybody.
Gerrard admitted after the game that the 38-year-old is given special treatment to manage his fitness, it’s clearly working.
When the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Cedric Itten are struggling for goals and consistency, it is great to have both Defoe and Kemar Roofe in smashing form.
Squad depth has been a problem in the past, and Gerrard has rectified that over the summer and it is a major part of this new-found success at Ibrox.
According to WyScout, Defoe only has only had eight shots on goal this season with two of those finding the back of the net – compare that to Morelos who has three goals from 25 efforts and that’s great efficiency.
Defoe has done this his entire career, and he is playing a major part in the title charge.
