‘More than inevitable’ – Dave King makes major Rangers transfer reveal & Gerrard admission
Dave King has claimed that it is more than inevitable that Rangers will sell some of their crucial players after this season.
The former Chairman admitted that it will be “essential” for the Bears to bring in some resources for their players in order to remain competitive.
Rangers are currently unbeaten in all competitions this season, and are on their way to numerous pieces of silverware should that continue.
Speaking to STV, King claimed that it will be down to Steven Gerrard to keep his side strong despite players leaving and joining.
“I think it’s more than inevitable, I think it’s essential,” he said. “The business model of Rangers as a successful club, the last couple of years, we were not a successful club, we were a catch-up club.
“That’s going to become a key part of the manager’s job going forward, how to get resources out for value, bring resources in and not weaken the competitive spirit of the team.”
Of course, it is inevitable, and unfortunately, success brings more interest in players that have delivered that in football.
King admitted that the current squad is worth upwards of £200million, and some of that looks set to be cashed in.
The likes of Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Glen Kamara will all be coming under the microscope if interest before this season was anything to go by.
One positive is that the success in this season will only see their valuations rise, especially the likes of Kent who has been targeted by the likes of Leeds in the Premier League.
Kamara could bring immense profit for the Bears, with his £50,000 transfer fee having multiplied ten-fold and with the likes of Brighton sniffing around, he could be one who leaves.
This isn’t what fans will want to hear, but it is just something we may have to accept.
