We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has said that George Edmundson will be really regretting his Covid breach when he picked up a seven-game ban for attending a party after the 1-0 win against Kilmarnock at the beginning of November.
He said that will have been brought into sharp focus after centre-back Filip Helander is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19 himself.
Edmondson could have been in for some game-time with Helander set to miss the game against Ross County and the next Europa League game against Lech Poznan.
Talking exclusively to Ibrox News McLeish said, “We all go through periods in our life when you have setbacks and it is important for George Edmundson to bounce back.
“He will need some help from the gaffer and his teammates, but I am sure he will be regretting what he’s done.
“People make mistakes though and I’m sure he can get past this.
“You can’t turn the clock back and he has to get on with it and prove to Stevie that he is a player that can ultimately challenge for a place in this Rangers side later on in the season.”
This is a huge season for Rangers and we’re sure that Edmundson’s regret at not being a part of what’s going on will be huge.
He let the team down massively, though. Gerrard needs every single body available to him at the moment, with battles on every front ongoing.
And when you’re Rangers, team comes first every time.
