‘Starting to lose my patience’, ‘Needs to toughen up’ – Some Gers fans react to player v Falkirk
Plenty of Rangers fans were disappointed with the performance of Ianis Hagi during the Gers’ Betfred League Cup tie against Falkirk on Sunday.
Rangers won the game 4-0, with Jermain Defoe, Calvin Bassey, Borna Barisic and James Tavernier all getting on the scoresheet.
Hagi, who has been out of favour in recent weeks, played the full 90 minutes for the first time since September and even impressed his manager Steven Gerrard, who said he showed “glimpses of magic”.
“Ianis Hagi showed glimpses of his magic with his through balls and his quality and I was pleased to get these guys 90 minutes,” he said (via Daily Record).
However, some fans were not impressed with the Romanian international, who has seen Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo move ahead of him in recent weeks.
The move to use Kemar Roofe from the right-wing has also limited his opportunities and one fan said that the position of the ex-Leeds United man in that role has been cemented with Hagi failing to push his name forward.
Others claimed that he needs to toughen up and take less time on the ball in the future.
