‘Gift wrapped’, ‘Can’t survive’ – Chris Sutton & Celtic fans give up ghost as Rangers march on
There were still some people who thought that Celtic could turn their season around and stop Rangers but that’s looking more and more unlikely after the latest round of games.
While Celtic crashed out of the Scottish League Cup in a shock result against Ross County, Rangers marched on with a 4-0 win over Falkirk.
Celtic fan Chris Sutton and some other Hoops supporters appeared to give up the ghost after the games.
Sutton said that time was up for Neil Lennon when he tweeted, “Neil Lennon has been badly let down by his players but he can’t survive this. He’s been a great servant to the club.”
And he tweeted an exchange from a Celtic fan on his BBC 606 show, who said that Celtic had “gift wrapped that trophy for Rangers”.
Gers must feel invincible
Other Celtic fans called the show to say that while the abuse Neil Lennon was getting was unacceptable, it seemed that he’d lost the dressing room and should go.
Rangers fans were happy with Steven Gerrard before but there was always the caveat that he hadn’t delivered any silverware.
We don’t want to tempt fate too much but it seems almost inconceivable that Rangers won’t win something this season.
In fact, it seems much more likely that they will win everything going domestically.
Jermain Defoe started the latest rout and with a rotating set of attackers who are all scoring, and a defence that just isn’t letting any goals in in Scotland, it’s hard to see where Rangers slip up.
The side has a different mentality this season and it’s got to Celtic.
They’re shot of confidence while Rangers must feel invincible at the moment.
And talking of Invincibles, the Rangers record so far this season is so good it’s even eclipsed that of Rodgers in the 2016/17 season.
How long can Lennon survive at Celtic? Gers fans don’t want him to go.
