‘Utter pish’, ‘Stinking footballer’ – Many Rangers fans destroy one player despite win v Falkirk
Rangers might have won 4-0 away at Falkirk in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday but that didn’t stop some fans from hitting out at Cedric Itten for his performance at Falkirk Stadium.
Steven Gerrard handed Itten, 23, just his fourth start of the season in all competitions and his first start since beating Kilmarnock on November 1.
The Switzerland international has been a Gers player for a few months after his arrival from St Gallen in August but the jury remains out on him due to his lack of game-time in Scotland.
We were looking forward to getting a good look at Itten in the League Cup clash at Falkirk but the Swiss attacker didn’t win over all fans who watched on.
Itten had plenty of chances to score and the header he won in the box was key to Calvin Bassey’s goal in the first-half.
He was good in the air but there were other chances where the ex-Basel attacker should have scored.
It might not have helped that he was being played out wide when he’s naturally a striker but he was still getting into the positions where he should have done more.
We were not displeased by Itten’s performance but some Rangers fans on Twitter were, with one claiming the attacker is “utter pish“.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

If Itten had joined Celtic in the summer then there might have been a protest about his performance at Parkhead, like there was on Sunday when Neil Lennon’s side lost at home to Ross County.
There’s an absolute meltdown going on across Glasgow at the moment where nothing but negativity sits in the air.
Let’s not be too harsh on Itten. He’s a good player who isn’t getting as many opportunities as he might deserve.
