Steven Gerrard has made seven changes to his starting line-up ahead of Rangers’ Scottish League Cup showdown with Falkirk at Falkirk Stadium.

Ahead of kick-off on Sunday, the Light Blues announced via their official Twitter account that Jon McLaughlin, Calvin Bassey, Ianis Hagi, Bongani Zungu, Cedric Itten, Brandon Barker and Jermain Defoe have all come into the side.

Zungu’s name on the teamsheet means the South African will earn his full debut for the Gers.

Rangers drew 2-2 with Benfica on Thursday night and will aim to secure qualification to the Europa League knock-out stages next Thursday when they welcome Standard Liege to Ibrox so it was always likely that Gerrard would rotate his squad.

However, Falkirk come into this game as unbeaten League One leaders so it will surely be an interesting clash in Stirlingshire on Sunday.

Despite Falkirk’s impressive start in the third-tier, you imagine that Rangers’ even-more-impressive start will put them in a great position to proceed in the Scottish League Cup as Gerrard aims to bring major silverware to Ibrox.

The Light Blues are flying at the top of the Scottish Premiership with an 11-point advantage over second-placed Celtic.

The Hoops have won every single piece of domestic silverware since 2016 and we’re praying that Rangers can be the club to stop that trend this season.
