‘Incredible’ – Rangers star tipped to seal PL switch after 20/21

James Tavernier has tipped Rangers team-mate Ryan Kent to secure a move to the Premier League – but not before this season is over.

Kent, 24, has been in stunning form this season, netting six goals and supplying seven assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.

He was strongly linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer with Steven Gerrard confirming that he rejected a bid from the Yorkshire club in August.

Rangers captain Tavernier, 29, now claims that Kent is more than good enough to make the move down south to play in Englands top-flight.

However, it’s clear that Tavernier doesn’t want to see the Gers lose the ex-Liverpool man just yet.

“Ryan has all the qualities to become a really top player. He’s getting there, you can see that,” said Tavernier, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“He’s scoring goals and adding numbers to his game. Hopefully that will continue.

“He is showing incredible consistency. There is nothing better I’d like to see than Ryan in the Premier League and hopefully that day will come — after this season.

“He’s got everything as a winger. He can shoot with his left or right foot and he can take it on both sides, he is so comfortable with both feet.

“As a defender, it’s so hard to defend against because he can come down either side.”

Rangers

Let’s face it, there are numerous players in the Rangers squad who are good enough to play in the English Premier League and Kent and Tavernier are among them.

But, based on the speculation we saw in the summer, Kent is perhaps the most likely to secure a move south of the border at some point in the future.

Gerrard made it clear he had no intention of losing Kent in the summer transfer window and to be fair to the player, he didn’t make any noises about wanting to leave and join Leeds as they made a bid for him.

That could be because Kent feels he has unfinished business at Rangers by wanting to help the Govan club win silverware and stop Celtic winning their 10th title in a row.

As it stands, the Gers are on course to do that with Kent playing a key role.

But if Rangers do win the title, would Kent look to move to England? Or would he want to have a shot at playing in the Champions League first?

We’ll see but we’re very sure he won’t go anywhere in January.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have been tipped to make a move for a new number nine in the January window by this ex-Celtic player.
