‘Celtic are too good’ – McCoist fires Rangers warning to Steven Gerrard

Rangers legend Ally McCoist has claimed that Celtic are ‘too good’ to be out of the Scottish Premiership title race despite the incredible form of his former side.

The Gers extended their lead over the Hoops in the table to 11 points with a convincing 4-0 win over Aberdeen on Sunday.

Celtic do have two games in hand on Rangers and speaking on TalkSPORT, McCoist claimed that the Hoops are ‘too good’ to not mount a comeback.

He said, “It’s very early in the season and Celtic are clearly too good a side not to come back and show a bit of form. They’ve got good players clearly. But in Europe and domestically they are dropping points you just wouldn’t normally expect them to.

“The bigger concern for Celtic rather than themselves dropping one or two points, that can happen, would be the form of Rangers.”

If Celtic win their games in hand they will still be five points off Steven Gerrard’s side but all it would take is for the Gers to lose one game and the title race will be wide open again.

Rangers

Unfortunately for Celtic, Rangers are showing no signs of slowing down after demolishing Aberdeen on Sunday to extend their winning run in the Scottish Premiership to seven games.

It has been six games since the Gers even conceded a goal in the league which suggests it is unlikely that they will lose a game anytime soon.

But Gers fans will be cautious after last season’s collapse which saw the title remain with their Old Firm rivals despite encouraging early season form.

Rangers have hit another level this year though and as we approach the start of December Gerrard’s side is still yet to experience defeat in any competition.

Title talk is natural when any side starts the season as well as Rangers have but there is a lot more football to be played this year and anything can happen.

In other Rangers news, some Gers fans were blown away by one player’s performance against Aberdeen.
