Ibrox View: Ryan Jack surely relieved as praised Aberdeen ace ruled out of Rangers clash

Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack was relishing the battle against Aberdeen mainstay Lewis Ferguson on Sunday afternoon at Ibrox.

The Bears enforcer has come back from international duty in high spirits, having helped Scotland to their first major tournament in over 20 years.

Jack was ready to go toe-to-toe with Ferguson, but it has been confirmed that he will miss the clash after testing positive for COVID-19.

Jack has hailed Derek McInnes for transforming Ferguson into such a great talent, claiming he is very similar to himself in midfield.

“I don’t know him personally, but I have played against him enough times,” he told the Herald. “I know what he’s about. He’s a good player.

“He’s gone to Aberdeen and done very well for Derek McInnes. I know Derek praises him highly so I’m looking forward to playing against him on Sunday.”

Ferguson, son of Derek, has been a standout for Aberdeen this season.

The 21-year-old has made 11 appearances and his best performance actually came recently against Celtic in the 3-3 draw.

The midfielder scored twice, but also made seven interceptions and the same number of recoveries according to WyScout as he was a menace in both halves.

Jack will surely be relieved to see a player with such talent ruled out, as it will have been a real battle at Ibrox – meaning that he will now have one less thing to worry about on their way to another big three points, fingers crossed.
