Many int’l fans destroy ‘Unfit’ Rangers player who ‘Has no business starting any match again’

Nigeria fans were not exactly impressed by Joe Aribo on Tuesday as the Rangers star featured in a goalless draw against Sierra Leone.

Aribo, 24, earned his sixth cap for the African giants in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier but was played in a deep-lying central midfield role by under-fire Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr.

Nigeria drew 4-4 with Sierra Leone last week despite being four goals to the good and although Rohr’s side are ranked 32nd in FIFA’s World Rankings, they have now failed to win two matches against a team that ranks all the way down in 120th place.

Rohr’s decision to play Aribo in a deep-lying midfield role failed to help the ex-Charlton ace shine as much as he has done for Rangers this season – and Nigeria fans have made that clear on Twitter.

Aribo was dubbed as “unfit” and one supporter even went as far to say he “has no business starting any match again”.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

While it has no impact on Rangers, it is always nice to see players going away and doing well on international duty – as long as they do not get injured.

Aribo did manage to avoid injury in Nigeria’s goalless draw against Sierra Leone, which is the main positive for the Light Blues.

But we don’t want to see him getting slammed by his fellow countrymen on Twitter – we get enough of that with Scotland fans looking through their tinted specs at Ryan Jack.

We’re sure that Nigeria will still qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations and that Aribo will be a hit in Cameroon next summer.

The Super Eagles might only need one more point to assure themselves of a spot and face Benin and Lesotho in their last two games.

In other Rangers news, five Aberdeen players have been ruled out of the clash at Ibrox this weekend.
