Twitter post clears up Jack Wilshere Ibrox mystery as Rangers fans get excited

Some Rangers fans thought that Jack Wilshere was being shown around Ibrox ahead of a potential free transfer for the former England star.

Wilshere is on the lookout for a new club and there had been talk that he would consider Rangers.

And the speculation hit overdrive with Rangers fans on Tuesday afternoon after one supporter posted a shot of a man and woman being shown around Ibrox.

He said, “Is Wilshere in Glasgow?? Looks like him and his mrs.”

From the angle that shot was taken, it could possibly have been Wilshere and that was enough for other Rangers fans to jump on the bandwagon. And the excitement grew from there.

However, the mystery was soon cleared up by another Rangers supporter who provided pretty definitive proof that the man in question is not Jack Wilshere.

In the middle of this interminable international break, it doesn’t take a lot for fans to get excited.

And, until Wilshere makes his next move, the speculation will continue.

But it would seem highly unlikely to us that he’d make a move north of the border.

Given his injury record, we would imagine that a league played at a milder pace and with fewer fixtures would suit him, like the MLS.

However, it might not be so far removed from a possibility as might be expected.

Wilshere was on a £100k-a-week salary at West Ham and it’s quoted as the biggest reason why a move to Ibrox would be out of the question.

However, we just don’t see any way that a club is going to make a long-term commitment to him without him proving himself first.

It could be that Wilshere has to agree a pay-as-you-play deal while he goes about demonstrating that he can still play at the top level.

Gers might be blessed with midfielders at the moment but, in his day, Wilshere was an outstanding talent. And we’d love to see him in a Rangers shirt.
