‘Last we see of him’, ‘Ominous’ – Many int’l fans react to major update on Rangers ace

Rangers midfielder Steven Davis dropped out of the Northern Ireland squad on Tuesday afternoon.

The Northern Irish FA released a statement surrounding the matter, claiming it was down to “personal reasons” rather than something such as COVID-19.

Davis will now miss the UEFA Nations League clash against Romania on Wednesday evening, a must-win game if his country wants to avoid the drop.

The 35-year-old completed 120 minutes against Slovakia last week, and also came on for the second half of the Austria clash on Sunday.

Both of those caps will have added to his record-breaking caps – with his 120 appearances breaking the record during the last international record.

Davis won’t get the chance to add to those caps, and with no more international breaks until March, it will be a while till he gets to go again.

Steven Gerrard has used the veteran thoroughly this season, and he has featured 11 times during this incredible league run that sees them sitting top.

There is no word on Davis’ availability at Ibrox, with two important games against both Aberdeen and Benfica coming up.

Many Northern Ireland fans have been openly scared about this latest announcement, and the majority believe it sounds quite ominous.

Most of those believe that this could have been the last they see of Davis at Windsor Park and that he could retire to concentrate on club football.

It isn’t clear whether or not that is true, but it would make sense given that he has broken the record and there isn’t a major tournament around the corner.
