‘Phenomenal’ – Derek Ferguson claims Rangers fortunate to have ‘top-drawer’ figure at Ibrox
Derek Ferguson has claimed that Rangers are “fortunate” to have Steven Gerrard in charge at Ibrox.
Gerrard has guided the Bears to the top of the table this season, with his side unbeaten in all competitions and only conceding three league goals.
Celtic are looking for their tenth title in-a-row, and Ferguson’s glowing comments prove that he believes Gerrard is the man to stop that.
Speaking on the Blues Brothers Podcast, Ferguson believes that the Bears are lucky to have such a good manager at the helm, who will only continue to get better.
“We’re fortunate we’ve got him,” he said.
“He’s brought into it right away, he realises what it’s all about so, he’s been great. I just love his hunger, because what he’s achieved as a player, he was a phenomenal player, but I can see him being a top-drawer manager.
“Listen we’ve got him, hopefully, we’ve got him for a long time and we can enjoy him.”
Gerrard has transformed the club from top-to-bottom.
After building the side to challenge last season, that collapse will make them even tougher to beat during this campaign, and that appears to be true.
Ferguson is spot on. Gerrard has only just started in the managerial world, and if he is this good already, the Bears could be about to start their own run of dominance in Scotland.
It has been far too long since the days of Walter Smith and others, and it appears that we have finally found the man to take us forward.
