‘It’s up to me’ – Player admits he’s not enjoying life at Rangers as much as he wants
Rangers youngster Glenn Middleton has claimed that being around the Gers first team is helping him develop despite him not playing a minute of football this season.
Middleton has remained at Ibrox this season after two loan spells last year but he is yet to make an appearance for Steven Gerrard’s side.
The 20-year-old has said he isn’t enjoying life at Rangers at the moment but credited the strength of the players keeping him out of the team.
Middleton is quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying, “Things haven’t been as enjoyable at the moment as I’d like them to be. So every minute I get on the pitch, it’s up to me to make an impact and prove I can do well.
“When I get a chance I need to show what I’m capable of then hopefully catch the eye. The squad at Rangers is a very high level and people realise it’s not easy to get into the starting 11. The competition for places is very strong but you can’t fail to learn at Rangers.

Rangers have a very strong squad this season and Middleton will find it hard to break into Gerrard’s team unless a fair number of players are unavailable for selection.
Every game is important for the Gers this season as the Ibrox club look to wrestle the title away from Celtic and end a 10-year title hoodoo.
This means it is unlikely Gerrard will risk using young and inexperienced players when he has established first-team players available to him.
Middleton may have to leave Ibrox on loan in January if he is to play any football this season. If he doesn’t leave he won’t get a chance to play for Rangers unless some dead games occur at the end of the season.
The 20-year-old went on loan to Hibernian in the first half of last season before joining Bradford in January so he does have some Scottish Premiership experience if he is called on by Gerrard.
In other Rangers news, Gareth Southgate has credited Gers players after Scotland qualified for next summer’s European Championship.
