Ryan Jack’s wife hits out at Aberdeen-based fan who slammed Rangers star after Scotland win
Ryan Jack’s wife Ashleigh has hit out at a Twitter user who criticised the Rangers midfielder’s performance for Scotland on Thursday night.
Jack, 28, played all 120 minutes of Scotland’s penalty shoot-out win over Serbia in Belgrade to help the Scots qualify for their first international tournament since 1998 by reaching next summer’s European Championships.
The Rangers star has played a crucial role in Scotland’s qualifying campaign, playing seven of the nation’s last eight matches in which they have won six and drawn once.
However, despite Jack’s seemingly vital role in Steve Clarke’s midfield, the ex-Aberdeen midfielder has faced constant criticism from rival supporters, especially Dons and Celtic fans.
Ashleigh Jack posted a tweet on Thursday night to say how proud she was of her husband’s role in Scotland’s qualification but that led to an Aberdeen-based Twitter user asking: “Was he playing?”
She replied by saying: “When is this going to be about Scotland and just put club loyalties aside? Finally, after 22 years achieved something as a TEAM But it still won’t ever be good enough for some people. Quite sad actually.”

She’s hit the nail on the head there.
This is why so many Rangers fans feel so detached from the Scottish national team because people are unwilling to give up their club loyalties to support their country.
Forget the politics, forget the Old Firm and forget Jack upsetting Aberdeen fans by singing for Rangers. We’re all Scottish and we should all want Scotland to do well whoever is playing.
We don’t usually post praise about Celtic players on here but when it comes to international football, there’s no denying that Callum McGregor was fantastic alongside Jack against Serbia and Ryan Christie deserves massive praise for his goal too.
If Jack had played badly then we can understand the criticism but it’s so obvious that certain rival fans just have it in for the midfielder no matter what.
